rigid Polyurea
HardCoat is ArmorThane’s two-component hybrid polyurea/polyurethane spray coat designed for more delicate surfaces like wood and EPS. Also compatible with many other substrates, HardCoat is a versatile coating that imparts the optimal balance of rigidity and impact resistance, creating a “shell-like” plastic shield that comprehensively protects vulnerable surfaces.

As an extremely rigid material, it’s used to stiffen or reinforce a variety of different materials, including many foams, and is commonly used to strengthen and waterproof insulating concrete forms (ICFs) constructed out of styrofoam foundations. Additionally, HardCoat can be sprayed into molds that hold its shape upon release, creating landscaping and water features, props, and many other functional or aesthetic structures. Moreover, HardCoat finds wider applications still, frequently employed in speaker boxes, wood pallets and crates, wood cabinetry, dock flotations, and countless other, distinct uses. Flammability is characteristic of many of the materials HardCoat is designed to protect, so we’ve also manufactured HardCoat as a fire retardant formulation, which we highly recommend for use in public areas for maximum safety. Factor in its low-VOC and generally healthier and more sustainable chemical profile, fast-setting and rapid-curing, high thermal stability, and the many other properties possessed by any high-performance polyurea coating system, and it’s not hard to see why HardCoat is a leading choice for rigid polyurea.
